Malaysians on board aid ship attacked by Israeli warship

Malaysians are on board one of the fleet of six ships transporting aid to blockaded Gaza that was attacked by an Israeli warship, killing 15 people and injuring many.

The Malaysians on board are a television crew from Astro, who are on board the Turkish ship Mavi Marmara that is leading the convoy.

It is still uncertain whether the Malaysians are among the dead or injured.

Other Malaysians involved in the convoy also include those from Perdana Global Peace Organisation.

Reports say that Israeli naval commandos boarded the ship and faced violent resistance from pro-Palestinian activists on the ship.

The flotilla is under the management of the Free Gaza Movement, numerous human rights organisations, including the Turkish Relief Foundation (IHH), European Campaign to End the Siege of Gaza, and the Swedish and Greek Boat to Gaza initiatives.

The passengers include members of Parliament from around the world, UN, human rights and trade union activists, as well as journalists sent to document the largest synchronized effort to directly confront Israel's blockade of Gaza and take in basic supplies.

The Turkish NTV network also reported an Israeli takeover with gunfire, and at least two people were killed.
